Leica didn't want to write a raw converter themselves (which, from what I've seen so far was smart), so they licensed LR before there was a subscription model. Then the next question would be what happens in 2016 or whenever Adobe next upgrades? Would the TAN installation continue to work subscription-free in perpetuity? If so, that would be extremely valuable for a user. If the Dehaze effect is present in the TAN installation, then the TAN versions are essentially unlocked CC2015 versions you get the subscription advantages without the fees. It's the standalone that is "crippled." LR6 remains frozen wrt new features, but CC2015, although released at the same time, gets new ones, like the Dehaze slider, and more recently the ability to brush the Dehaze effect, neither of which is present in stand-alone LR6.1.1 or 6.2.1. Subject to some clarification regarding "dadohead's" point, I'd like to make an optimised decision. Can I delay that, and might I get the slightly crippled CC? It's just laziness to be honest, and v4 is what I'm familiar with.

However, I haven't installed it, and instead have stuck with v4. I purchased a Q in August and downloaded what must be standalone LR6 for Mac with the TAN supplied.

This thread is interesting and developing nicely.
